If you have a loss under an Automobile Policy:

  • Check for injuries. Life and health are more important than damage to vehicles.
  • Promptly notify the police of the accident or loss.
  • Make note of specific damages to all vehicles involved.

  • Write down the names, addresses and license numbers of persons involved in the accident. Also, write a description of the other vehicles.
  • Do not admit fault to anyone as there could be multiple factors contributing to an accident. Give factual details of your recollection of the accident and cooperate with the police in providing answers to their questions.
  • Don’t discuss your insurance coverages or limits.

Contact our call center or your agent and please have the following information available at the time of your call:

  • Driver’s name and telephone number.
  • Policy number.
  • License number.
  • Address and home and work telephone numbers.
  • Information about the other driver including: name, insurance company and policy number, address and telephone numbers, and information about his/her car.
  • Accident information including: date, time, location, weather conditions, and who responded.
  • The names and telephone numbers of any witnesses.

If you have a loss under a Homeowner Policy:

  • Contact our call center or your agent so that a loss report may be submitted to us.
  • Notify the credit card or fund transfer card company in case of loss under Credit Card or Fund Transfer Card coverage.

Protect the property from further damage. If repairs to the property are required, you must:

  • Make reasonable and necessary repairs to the property.
  • Keep an accurate record of repair expenses.
  • Prepare and inventory of damaged personal property showing quantity, description, actual cash value and amount of loss. Attach all bills, receipts and related documents that justify the figures in the inventory.
